Located at Nyiragako-Nyakabande along Kabale Kisoro road,5 km before Kisoro town, the museum is perched on the southern side of the Virunga mountain ranges. The delightful site is surrounded by Bwindi and Mgahinga Gorilla National parks, Ecuya Forest Reserve, the lava-dammed lakes of Mutanda, Murehe, Chahafi, and Kayumba, rolling terraced hills, in arguably the coolest region of Africa.
